Qatar Energy’s fleet growth scheme moves apace. There was an agreement signed this week for 12 LNG carrier with Hanwha Ocean. The Korean yard was previously known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. Prices and delivery plans have yet to be announced for LNG carrier.
Last month, another Korean major yard, Samsung Heavy Industries, won an order from Qatar Energy for 15 gas carriers for $3.44bn. In October last year, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured a record-breaking $3.9bn deal to build 17 LNG carriers for the same owner.
