LTG Cargo has expanded its services by delivering 220 new Škoda cars to Kaunas by European rail. This is reported by the rail transport news portal Rail Supply.
A special cargo arrived in Kaunas: 220 new Škoda cars arrived by European rail. The LTG Group, particularly LTG Cargo, has been expanding its services and increasing international freight volumes to Western countries.
Recently, the company completed the first car transport from the Czech Republic to Balymunas. A 22-carriage train transported 220 cars to Lithuania for sale on the Baltic market.
LTG Cargo’s management is actively looking for solutions for rail transport of various goods. The company’s main customers are oil, minerals, and agricultural products, but LTG aims to attract other industries.
Eagle Shimi, CEO of LTG Cargo, stressed that the project embodies the team’s efforts to expand transport routes and strengthen international transport. According to her, transporting so many cars by road would require 25 to 30 tank trucks. Rail has proven to be an environmentally and economically competitive option.
Cooperation and route development at LTG Cargo
The project was implemented with partners: ČD Cargo was responsible for transport within the Czech Republic, and the Lithuanian company AV Terminal was responsible for distribution from the Palymonas terminal to the final destination.
Martinas Kirsis, stationmaster of AV Station, said he was happy to contribute to developing new routes and strengthen Lithuania’s position as a gateway to the Baltic region. At Vievis, AV Terminal will provide additional services before delivering vehicles to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia customers.
LTG Cargo rail transport service forecast
From the starting point in the Czech Republic to Palymonas, 1,000 kilometers were traveled by European standards (1,435 mm) in just 50 hours without recharging. LTG Cargo Polska is a subsidiary of LTG Cargo responsible for transport throughout Poland.
The project highlights LTG Cargo’s capabilities for international freight transport within Europe, particularly important as the Baltic Rail integration is approaching.
