Greece’s Capital Maritime and Trading has sold the young VLCC to be flagged under the Vietnamese flag. Evangelos Marinakis sold a colossal ship named Alexander the Great. It was built by Universal 14 years ago. The ship was purchased by Phuong Dong Petrol Transport vietnam, according to VesselsValue.

Vietnam has acquired three VLCC since 2020. Two Greek owners, Eastmed and Thenamaris, sold two massive ships. They were built in 205forto Viet My Petrol Transportation. Furthermore, Pantheon Tankers sold the oldest vessel, built in 2003, to Nhat Viet Transportation.

According to Equasis, a reliable shipping database, Phuong Dong Petrol Transport was an actively operating company in 2023. During this time, the company had an impressive fleet of vessels. Including a 1994-built LPG carrier, a vintage 21,200 deadweight tonnage (dwt) chemical tanker, and two 32,800 dwt tankers built in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Among these vessels was the most technologically advanced ship. A 2010-built LR2 tanker with a deadweight tonnage of 109,000 dwt.
